This sounds basic, but once you start waiting for enemies to face away from wherever your point of attack is, you gain valuable seconds in which to defeat them. However, it takes them longer to start attacking if you approach from behind them. When you first reach on the same screen as a monster (IE, you can see it) and you're on the same platform, monsters will turn your attention toward you. Learning how to exploit the basic behaviour of the monsters is the difference between finishing levels with no malaise and drinking a flask because you reached 10 malaise by the second biome. ![]() The single biggest difference I see between struggling and competent players is how they approach mobbing. I think it's realistic to assume that you can't beat the game unless you can solo every mob in the game without getting hit. It's also crucial to know each monster's moves and when they might use them - I focus on one problematic fellow in this guide later because I think it's important I do so, but there's much to learn about even the simplest mobs.
